WS6Store now has our CUSTOM made short shifter shaft for the T56 transmission. If you know what it’s like to miss third gear when it really counts, blame that rubber bushing on your stock or Hurst shaft. This shaft is solid with the shift mechanism so it is either IN OR OUT of gear -no in between! The shaft was chrome plated before it was machined it so it is very shiny but you can’t see it under the shift boot. The end of the shaft is threaded to fit your stock or Hurst knob. The bottom of the shaft is milled on both sides so it fits flush with the bolts and shift mechanism. In the pictures below you can see the major difference in the height of the stock shaft vs. our short shaft.

The overall length of the stock shaft is 8-5/8″. The overall length of our shortshaft is 6″…which is over a 2″ difference in length. The result after installing this shaft is shorter, faster, and more positive shifts. Throw is reduced by almost a full inch or about 25%. The pictures below display the differences in the 2 shafts installed in the car without the boots in place.

Don’t pay twice as much for the SAME thing! Buy this for half the price and save money. This is a high quality shaft and will give you awesome shifts for many years to come. Two of the WS6store owners have this in their personal f-body’s and wouldn’t go without it!

Not only will this shaft work with the stock and stock Hurst shifters, it will also work with many different aftermarket shifters as well, including: Hurst Billet Plus, Pro 5.0, SLP, & Kirban.

Installation is a breeze and takes only 5-10 minutes with minimal mechanical skills. Remove the shifter boot, take out the 2 bolts holding your stock shaft in place, bolt the new shaft in place with the included bolts, and put the shifter boot back in…and you’re done. The only tools required are a 13mm wrench, and a 6mm hex socket with ratchet (or a 6mm allen wrench). You will notice a difference right away in your shifts and will wonder why you stuck with your stock shaft for so long!

You get everthing you see in the picture above: one shaft with M16 x 1.50 threads for your stock or Hurst knob, two M8 x 1.25 x 35 socket head cap screws, two Shake proof washers, two Washers, two M8 x 1.25 nylon lock nuts, and one Set of instructions with an AutoCad Drawing of how to install.

    Well its a good item on maybe a hurst shifter set up. I installed one of these on my factory 96 Formula WS6 and it was simply way to low into the console. Its not a bad item. I just recomend it for something other then a factory non hurst shifter.

    It is true, you will probably never miss a 2nd to 3rd shift again. However the shortened stick is physically unappealing, and when you do make throws the shifter tends to nail the consol. However 25 bucks to never miss third again is a reasobable trade off for thew sticks nminor inconveniences

    Mine went into a 94 Z28, i absolutely love how much crisper the shifting is. I ordered the six and a half inch stick and its about perfect, however like other people have mentioned the stick comes back and nails the console shifting from 1st to 2nd but it really doesn’t bother me at all.

    This thing is great. It was a very easy install and WS6Store service was top notch. My order was processed within 15 minutes of ordering it and within the hour it said it was shipped. I ordered it yesterday afternoon and it was at my door by 10:00 this morning. The short stick works great and I actually have no problems with it hitting the console when going into 2nd and 4th. I highly recommend this product to anyone that is thinking about purchasing it.

    Easy to install, works well….however it does hit the console on the even gears in my 96 Z28. I think I am going to heat and bend a slight arc in mine. I also think it might be a bit to short for my liking, not because it made the throws to short, they are just find. Just that now the lever seems like its to far away down in a hole……the 6.5″ model would of been just right.

    Great product for the money……it could go for a bit more refinement, but its super sheap with great fitment.
